Thunder Hole, Dark Horse, and Rho

Thunder Hole; An iconic location in Acadia National Park.

The night envelops the rugged coastline of Acadia National Park as the waves crash and thunder with booming force. Standing safely on the observation walkway leading down to the edge of the massive crevice that is Thunder Hole, my eyes adjust to the darkness around me. The sound of the waves crashing and thundering is almost haunting. But the stars light up the sky and transform this intimidating atmosphere from scary to awe inspiring.

As the milky way core slowly ascends above the horizon, it unveils the mesmerizing Dark Horse Nebula and Rho Ophiuchi, casting their ethereal glow against the night sky. These are always the first objects I look for when I am shooting the Milky Way, and I get so excited to see them. The higher density clusters of stars mirror their vibrant hues onto the ever moving ocean, creating a captivating spectacle of colors dancing on the water's surface. As the night unfolds, you can’t help but appreciate this moment in all it’s beautiful glory.
